In 1986 a battle between two New Zealand horses; Bonecrusher and Our Waverley Star for the W.S. Cox Plate.

The crowd roared as Our Waverley Star and Bonecrusher went stride for stride, testing both horses over the final 800 metres of the Weight-for-Age Championship and it was Bonecrusher who raced into “equine immortality”.
