Musir, the Redoute's Choice colt Group Two UAE Derby winner over 1900m at Meydan in March, will not run in Australia this spring after scans revealed wear and tear on joints after his racing in Dubai. The home-bred colt of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum was sent by trainer Mike De Kock to Rosehill's David Payne to be prepared for spring racing in Australia.

After quarantine and spelling the colt entered Payne's stable however Sky Sports Radio reported on Tuesday that veterinary advice after scans is that the colt should be further tried for another campaign at this point.

Musir, bred in Australia and out of the Encosta de Lago mare Dizzy De Lago, won the UAE Derby by 1 3/4L over another Australian-bred Raihana (AUS) (Elusive Quality), also owned by  Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.

After the race jockey Christophe Soumillon said "I was on a very good horse, and he showed a lot of courage in the straight. He had lot of weight and was racing over further than he’s been before. I was able to sit behind good horses. He had to go through a gap and he did. He finished like a really good horse."

The colt also won the Group Three UAE Guineas over 1600m earlier in the Dubai season in February, 2010.
